Early Childhood Teacher/Room Leader: Autism Specific Program , SDN Macquarie Park Are you an experienced early learning professional with a focus on inclusion, ready to lead the Autism Specific Program in our new purpose-built centre? As the Lead Early Childhood Teacher for SDN’s Autism Specific Preschool Program within our new 90 place centre, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading a small team of early childhood professionals to deliver an innovative, high quality and inclusive program for autistic children, while building strong, meaningful relationships with children and families, and delivering the support of the SDN village to their lives. About you You will be an exceptional degree-qualified early childhood educator with a special interest in diversity and inclusion and working with children with autism. As a Room Leader you will have a strong interest in identifying and supporting the development of your team, building an environment of collaboration and innovation. The team will have a focus on inclusion and their work within the Autism Specific Program will be guided by the principles, practices and processes developed through over 10 years work in SDN Beranga, our Autism-Specific Preschool. About the role (essential) University Qualifications in Early Childhood Education and registration with NESA (required) Post graduate qualifications in Autism (Masters level preferred, e.g., Master of Autism, Graduate Certificate Autism Studies, Graduate Certificate in Education (Practices for Autism) or Postgraduate Diploma) (desirable) Have demonstrated commitment to inclusion and the value of neurodiversity. Have previous experience as a Room Leader with excellent pedagogical practice informed by the Early Years Learning Framework and best practice in inclusion. Knowledge of the National Quality Standards and the implications for centres Understanding of the development of children, their health, hygiene and nutritional needs Commitment and skill in providing quality and appropriate experiences and inviting learning environments for children Experience in leading and guiding practice of other Educators Understanding of current pedagogical thinking and research Understanding of Child Protection legislation and holds an approved and current Child Protection Training qualification Current Senior First Aid certificate and current Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate (preferable).
