About the role Mercy Community currently have an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our New Families team. This is a casual position based in Nudgee. This is fantastic opportunity for a someone seeking meaningful, casual shiftwork. This is a shift work position which MAY include a range of shifts including early (12:00am start), day (8:00am start) and late (4:00pm start) and weekend shifts . This position is responsible for contributing to the provision of a safe and supportive environment for mothers and their babies in the Mercy Community Intensive Support House. The role requires provision of practical and emotional support to mothers, so mothers can learn to meet the care and protective needs of their babies. $37.35 - $40.05 ph (SCHADS L3) plus shift penalties plus superannuation plus generous salary packaging available What you’ll be doing Supporting mothers to develop appropriate parenting and living skills that enable them to gain confidence in caring for their babies Undertake rostered shifts in the New Families Program Intensive Support House and/or make home visits to mothers and babies residing elsewhere, if the program requires Provide information, education and support to mothers so as to develop appropriate parenting and living skills, by implementing Family Support Plans developed by the Caseworker Provide accurate written and verbal reports in relation to the mothers and babies progress during shifts undertaken, through case notes, handover discussions, supervision and participation in team meetings Building and maintaining relationships with mothers and role model expected behaviours Support personal skill development contributing to the provision of a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable mothers and their babies About you As the successful applicant, you will possess: Certificate III or higher in Community Services or related discipline and relevant experience Experience working with babies and their families Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS Office Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement) Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver Licence Ability to obtain positive notice in the legislatively required personal history check in line with service stream compliance requirements First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement) Why Mercy Community Mercy Community is a Catholic not-for-profit, compassionately inspiring and supporting people to live hopeful, connected lives within inclusive communities.
