The Sales Engineering team operates at the centre of Tesla technology, business development and the deployment of utility scale Tesla energy projects. As a member of the team, you will help shape the success of projects in various applications across Australia, Asia-Pacific and globally. We are seeking a technically oriented Sales Engineer with strong electrical engineering fundamentals to join our Sales Engineering team. You will be a key technical member of the team that evaluates and defines new utility scale Energy Storage Product projects and working to refine the customers requirements and deploy Tesla’s product against them. You will utilize engineering first principles and actively engage with customers to understand their requirements, leveraging your technical expertise and soft skills to build strong relationships and shape customized solutions. This is a full-time position, based in Melbourne. What You’ll Do Develop and apply storage application modelling and analysis Review engineering system designs and providing feedback to ensure Tesla's standards of quality, safety and cost efficiency are met Work with prospective customers to identify the best commercial and technical fit of Tesla’s technology to support the development of business cases for projects Understand regional energy markets and utilities, define functional requirements with engineering colleagues, and work with teams to evaluate new market segments Evaluate the integration context for battery systems and provide technical guidance applicable to Tesla technology Develop and negotiate technical terms for contracts with customers and commercial teams Engage with policy teams to shape market developments and reforms Provide feedback on market needs and competitive landscapes to inform ongoing product development and offerings What You’ll Bring Bachelor or Masters in Engineering, with a Major in Electrical, Energy or Power Systems 2 years of experience in the energy or renewable industry Working knowledge of battery systems, power conversion and grid connection processes for energy storage or solar PV systems Familiarity with building excel models to understand technical and financial impact Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to present complex engineering concepts and technologies to a variety of stakeholders Experience in stakeholder management drive on outcomes Ability to track rapidly-changing market conditions regarding storage funding, product development and competitive landscape Ability to prioritize and execute many projects and tasks in parallel Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, & Powerpoint)
