Job No: APTEO102091003 Expressions of interest sought for Casual Academic Mentors for Victoria Multiple casual positions available About the role: This team manages a very successful employment-based secondary teaching program in partnership with Teach for Australia. Our Academic Mentors will be responsible for monitoring the individual progress of Associates (students) through the units and assessment requirements. Academic Mentors will work with the Associates and Teaching and Leadership Coaches to track the achievement of learning outcomes, critical tasks and Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APSTs). Successful candidates can be based across Victoria. Responsibilities: Work with the Regional Lead who oversees Victoria within a 'Community of Practice' (CoP) model to provide regular support meetings that, in turn, support Associate (student) development and progress in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) (Leading learning). Monitor Associates' progress in the broad academic program, ensuring the Associates remain on track for timely completion. Liaise with the placement school and school mentor regarding the Associate's performance and professional development in alignment with the requirements of the placement units. Assess and report on Associates' classroom practice and complete professional experience reports and provide feedback to Associates as required. Inform the Regional Lead immediately of any Associates who might be 'At Risk' or 'Professional Experience At Risk'. Monitor progress through critical tasks, unit assessments and the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA). Visit 1st year Associates 5 times per year. This may include virtual visits in very remote areas or extenuating circumstances. Visit 2nd year Associates 1 time in year 2. Keep regular communication with each Associate throughout the first year of the program and be available on a needs basis for second-year Associates. You will need to have: A master's degree in education or a related field, as well as classroom and leadership experience. Highly developed organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to plan. Build relationships with staff across the organisation and the stakeholders to perform duties. Work collaboratively internally and externally to ACU to capitalise on all available expertise in pursuit of excellence.
