ASX Opportunity Snapshot What’s On Offer ASX is looking for a Solution Designer with a solid background in IT infrastructure to support project evaluation, design, delivery and operationalisation. This role provides a fantastic opportunity to utilise your technical expertise, investigative acumen, people skills and project co-ordination capabilities to support in the delivery of business critical infrastructure services underpinning the broad range of ASX financial services that are core to the Australian economy. The ideal candidate would be technically savvy across a range of common IT infrastructure platforms but capable of working with specialists in detail, adept at co-ordinating technical project delivery and able to engage professionally with a range of stakeholders in both technical and business contexts. Role: Infrastructure Solution Designer, Technology Infrastructure Reports to: Manager, Infrastructure Engineering People Management: N/A Budget: N/A Team: Technology Infrastructure Date: March 2023 Location: Remote & Sydney, NSW Flexible Role: Yes What you’ll do: As part of a broader infrastructure team, evaluate the infrastructure requirements and elements of business projects and requests Apply your familiarity with good IT infrastructure practices, functionality and efficiency in order to bring together the necessary technical analysis and design to formulate solutions Provide advice on, document and plan delivery of these solutions Co-ordinate the implementation of designs to ensure a high quality solution goes into production Collaborate with technical specialists across hosting services, virtualisation, networking, security and application areas to ensure service, security and operational needs are met Ensure that security, regulatory and audit needs are sufficiently documented and accounted for Use your soft-skills to drive engagement of stakeholders both within the technical and project delivery space Utilise JIRA and ServiceNow to manage workflow and implement change in a highly controlled environment What you’ve done: Experience in technical design processes –requirements gathering, generating design documentation and implementation planning Experience in supporting project planning, delivery and execution - familiarity with project management concepts Familiarity with project budget and resource planning estimations Ability to identify and report risks, as well as plan mitigation and resolution approaches Demonstrated empathy towards others and a willingness to understand a diversity of goals Experience in some or all of the following areas of IT infrastructure, sufficient to understand functional aspects of each area and collaborate with specialists as required: Operating Systems – RHEL and/or Windows – configuration, deployment and management Supporting services such as Active Directory and monitoring platforms Networking – physical switching concepts, IP networking and VLANs Firewalls - rule definition and implementation concepts Hardware – specification and installation requirements such as cabling Virtualisation – Virtual machine specification and general VMware platform capability Databases – Connectivity and deployment requirements IT security principles – least privilege, access controls and assurance Application concepts – availability, connectivity and performance aspects And if you’ve got some of this, even better: Experience in Cloud IaaS/PaaS Services such as AWS or Google Cloud Familiarity with Cloud SaaS platforms such as ServiceNow, Salesforce or similar Driven the delivery of new technology initiatives or platforms, from requirements to production Knowledge of distributed system concepts and scalability best practices Knowledge of application architecture and design principles, e.g. microservices, containerisation Interest in emerging technologies – within and outside the infrastructure space Project management experience or qualifications Financial Services industry experience or knowledge What you need to enjoy and be good at for this role: Ability to see the technology “big picture”, and to consider broader operational and organisational objectives in everything that you do An ability to take technical leadership where required, or to defer to specialists as the situation demands Communicating clear and concise information that is tailored to suit the audience A focus on quality and attention to detail A mindset to apply best practices in all aspects of your work An ability to adapt to changing priorities and switch between concurrent work streams A willingness to advocate the right solution, with the flexibility to meet the situation at hand
