Our Design Branch currently has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Senior Design Engineer join our Secondary Design team at Glendenning. About the Role Provide technical leadership within the substation secondary design team. Ensuring project design/drafting work is performed to the required quality standard on time and on budget. A sound knowledge of Transmission and Zone substation secondary systems Preparing complex secondary design for existing and new substation projects while meeting customers’ requirements on demand. Providing project estimates including fabrication costs and completion times. Carrying out problem investigations affecting existing arrangements and be able to identify a suitable solution. Drive improvement in safety performance and model the organisation’s commitment to WHS, including the incorporation of safety in design for all design deliverables. Lead by example and provide colleagues support in delivering design services. Build an environment that motivates individuals, gives all team members a voice, promotes effectiveness and healthy conflict. Implement governance over the delivery of design services to ensure that the works are undertaken within the constraints specified by the project. Deliver designs that are efficient to construct recognising that the design process directly drives construction costs. Provide expert technical knowledge and support to Design Engineers, Design Engineering Officers and trainees to allow them to progress their own skill levels across multiple disciplines within their respective Design Section. Identify barriers to the effective delivery of design service deliverables and propose potential solutions which are in line with the overall vision and direction of the organisation. The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the effective delivery and technical leadership of respective substation secondary design service deliverables, produce technical/analytical designs, provide local SME expertise and suggest process improvements within Secondary Design Team with the application of critical thinking, advanced problem solving, commercial awareness, effective technical understanding, verbal and written communication skills. In addition, provide stakeholder / customer expert technical knowledge and support, conducting investigations and estimations where required and support colleagues as directed. About You A specialised professional with demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably within the Energy/Electrical or Utilities industries, you will be a highly focused team player with problem solving skills coupled with your proficiency in an extensive range of software applications related to the role. Key to your success in this role will your interpersonal and communications skills, your ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external and your ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment. In addition to the above qualities, you will need to meet the criteria: Qualifications, Certifications and Licences Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Minimum 5 years in secondary design) Licences/Tickets C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM).
