More About the Role at SafetyCulture As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for enabling our engineering teams to deliver high quality products. You will provide leadership to our teams on how to take their quality maturity to the next level, how to sustain and how to keep improving it, so that we can ship software fast and with high confidence. You will be part of continuously uplifting our quality engineering function by working with the QE community and engineering productivity team to solve organisation-wide problems involving quality. How you can have an impact You’ll influence the direction of the teams by regularly raising the quality bar. You’ll actively participate in initiatives aimed at improving how we do things, experimenting with ways to become more efficient and productive, and improving the overall quality of the products we deliver. We encourage involvement in the community, open source work, attending talks and events, and experimenting with new technologies. The teams We have teams developing and supporting our SaaS platform, working on extending the functionality and longer term strategic bets, including real-time incident reporting, analytics, and IoT. Each team has a co-located manager, product manager, designer, direct access to customers, and support from specialists in quality, SRE and specific technologies. What you'll be doing? - Work with engineering teams to identify and prioritise quality improvement opportunities and drive changes that positively impact product quality. - Contribute to the continuous improvement of the software development lifecycle, advocating for quality and reliability throughout all stages of product development. - Perform gap analysis and regularly improve the team's quality strategy to ensure software releases are of the highest quality. - Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, product managers, and engineering managers, to define requirements with quality for new and existing software features. - Drive quality process improvements across the organisation, including designing and implementing effective metrics, automated tests and reporting mechanisms. - Communicate progress and impact of quality initiatives to relevant stakeholders. - Mentor and lead team members on best practices in software quality through pair testing, pair programming in writing tests or fixing a bug, or delivering a knowledge sharing session. What you will need - 5 years of experience in the software quality industry (or demonstrated experience in a similar role). - Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools. Ability to develop API and end-to-end tests independently and have an understanding of good quality practices in integration and unit tests. - Experience with testing Microservices architecture (both manual and automated). - Experience with web and mobile applications. - Experience with successfully leading improvement initiatives involving discovery, planning, execution, communication with stakeholders and measuring success. - Understand how testing interacts with or impacts CI/CD pipelines. - Strong abilities in creative thinking, communication, and effectively leading execution. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Nice to have - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. - Familiarity with one modern coding language (ideally Golang or Javascript). - Experience with non-functional tests such as load testing, performance testing and infrastructure. - Building and running SaaS or cloud services at scale. - Agile delivery experience. - Experience with testing platform services.
