The opportunity We are seeking a Senior Legal Advisor – Operations and Remediation to join our legal team in Melbourne. This role will provide strategic, commercially focused legal and regulatory support for Bupa APAC mainly in relation to regulatory investigations and remediation projects with the Health Insurance business. Bupa is a global company and this role provides opportunities to liaise and work with the Bupa Global team. This is a 2-year fixed term contract based in Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements. How will you make an impact? Key responsibilities include: Managing, overseeing and providing high quality, strategic and commercially focused legal advice to the leaders, managers and executives in the Health Insurance business unit in relation to regulatory investigations and on remediation work undertaken by the business. Working collaboratively with the business and other key stakeholders (including Risk and Compliance) to proactively manage legal risks. Delivering training to ensure the business is kept up to date on relevant legal topics and developments. Exploring and adopting legal process management initiatives to optimise the provision of legal services to the business Developing relationships and collaborating with teams within Bupa APAC and Bupa’s global legal team to deliver outcomes for the business. Minimum 12 years relevant post admission experience in-house or in private practice A current relevant practising certificate in a state Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia Law degree from an Australian or international university Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills Commercial acumen with the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice Excellent general commercial law skills with a good knowledge of Australian Consumer Law Experience in regulatory investigations/enforcement, dispute resolution or commercial litigation is desirable but not essential Healthcare/ health insurance experience is not essential About Bupa Asia Pacific: Bupa is an international healthcare group which has been committed to a purpose of helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world for more than 70 years.
