Key Responsibilities: Lead a team of professional lawyers, ensuring the provision of timely and cost-effective legal advice Engage with First Nations stakeholders and collaborate closely with Major Projects on front-end land access, interests in land, community engagement, environmental approvals, planning and secondary approvals Develop and implement frameworks that foster strong, collaborative business partnerships across diverse professional teams Enhance Powerlink’s legal risk management framework to implement business-focused policies, procedures, and training Oversee regulatory compliance processes to ensure timely and cost-effective adherence to relevant frameworks Monitor legal developments and provide training to internal teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risks Maintain industry knowledge and build relationships with key external stakeholders to keep Powerlink informed of relevant legal and policy changes The people you'll join: Join our expanding team of highly experienced in-house lawyers, working alongside a leadership team of Lead Legal Counsels and reporting directly to our Head of Legal. Powerlink is the electricity transmission network service provider for QLD, and we are dedicated to delivering reliable, safe, and sustainable electricity to Queenslanders. As our business experiences significant growth due to the renewable energy transition, we are expanding our legal team to support this exciting journey. What you'll bring The ideal candidate will be a qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with significant post-admission experience and a current Queensland Law Society practicing certificate. You should have extensive experience in planning and environment law, whether in an in-house role or as a senior practitioner in a legal practice as well as be skilled at leading and managing a team of legal professionals. Experience in one or more of the following areas is essential: planning and environment, property, native title, cultural heritage.
