About the role AEMO Systems Performance team is seeking an Engineer looking for a key role in managing generator performance in the energy transition. The NEM is at the leading edge internationally of power system change. Amidst this dynamic environment, AEMO is managing the connection and operation of a diverse range of generating units that will help navigate this future. This role is an opportunity to provide technical support in assessing generator performance and investigating power system incidents. What you will be doing Investigating the technical performance of generators, providing recommendations and reporting on instances of generator non-compliance with performance standards, under the direction of a technical lead. Investigating power system incidents to provide analysis used to support possible actions or improvements to address performance issues and non-compliances, under the direction of a technical lead. Contributing to the analysis of various power system performance issues and providing recommendations. Writing, contributing to, or reviewing technical reports, ensuring all reports are of a high technical standard and suited to the intended audience. Liaising with AEMO internal teams and NEM participants to provide advice, facilitate information exchange, query resolution, and in the delivery of project outcomes What you will bring to the role Educational Background: A degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems or power electronics. Professional Experience: Experience in the field of power systems. Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly in relation to electricity transmission, distribution, and generation. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Desirable Skills: Experience with generator performance standards, knowledge of national electricity rules applicable to frequency control, and previous experience with project management and stakeholder engagement would be advantageous.
