About the role As our Legal Counsel you will report to a Senor Legal Counsel in a generalist in-house commercial role. You will work on a wide range of legal matters including contract review, drafting and negotiation, advising on competition law and consumer law , review of marketing material including packaging, advertising material and consumer promotions, pre-dispute issues and management of disputes among other responsibilities. You will work closely with business colleagues in a fast-paced commercial environment and also be part of a collegiate Legal Team. Key responsibilities: Manage contract drafting, review and negotiation with minimal supervision Advise on competition law issues Identify, manage and mitigate competition and consumer law risk including review of marketing, packaging and promotional material Provide pre-dispute advice and manage disputes in conjunction with external legal support Manage enforcement of contracts/pre-disputes/disputes Conducting training and workshops Provide pragmatic advice in relation to consumer complaints/regulatory issues Provide legal support to our Australian and international businesses About You You are an Australian qualified lawyer with PQE of 5-7 years and a current Australian Practising Certificate and, preferably, a combination of private practice and in-house experience. You have the capability to build positive relationships, embody trust and respect and deliver sound commercial advice. You are decisive in your problem-solving approach, have excellent communication skills, and you are a natural influencer. You will also have Strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills Competition and consumer law experience Ability to assess risk and make a call on a situation (black and white situations are rare) and knowing when to ask questions of the Legal Team and other stakeholders Willingness to learn new areas of law and skills (as there is not much repetitive work) Confidence and judgement to run matters quasi-autonomously, identify issues and ask questions when required Ability to manage a large volume of matters and prioritise appropriately If you are looking for a challenge and love a variety of work, and you want a role that you can throw yourself into and really make a difference APPLY NOW .
