The Role Reporting to the Managing Director, the National Sales Manager will be responsible for driving national sales growth and achieving financial targets. You will lead and develop state-based teams, ensuring the company’s market competitiveness and operational efficiency across all trading states. This role involves regular travel to store locations nationwide, where you will build and maintain strong relationships with trade customers, gaining valuable market insights to help shape product offerings and sales strategies. Key Responsibilities: Sales Leadership: Implement and oversee sales operations and objectives across all trading states, driving growth and meeting or exceeding key performance indicators. Team Development: Lead and inspire state-based sales teams, providing support through regular visits and remote communication. Ensure all team members are clear on their roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations. Customer Relationships and Market Insights: Engage in face-to-face communication with key trade customers in stores, building strong relationships and gathering feedback. Feed insights back into the business to identify areas for improvement, new opportunities, and potential additions to the product range. Strategic Planning: Develop and execute sales strategies to maximise revenue, improve market competitiveness, and ensure the delivery of high-quality customer service. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all sales operations comply with relevant legislation, company policies, and Work Health and Safety standards. Training and Development: Identify training needs within the team and ensure that all members are well-versed in company practices, multiskilled, and capable of delivering excellent customer service. About You: Proven experience in a National Sales Manager or similar leadership role, preferably within the building materials, manufacturing, or construction industries. Ability to build and nurture strong relationships with the branch network and trade customers, ensuring alignment on sales goals, fostering collaboration, and supporting local teams to achieve success. Willingness to travel regularly across the national footprint, visiting stores to build in-person relationships with trade customers and gather market insights. Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams across multiple locations. Strong business acumen, with experience in market analysis, customer relationship management, and strategic planning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and internal teams.
