The Infrastructure and Operations Division maintains national critical infrastructure for Services Australia and across government. We deliver a robust, secure, and resilient ICT environment so Australian citizens can access government services 24x7.We are seeking to fill roles in our Core Infrastructure Branch which sits within the Infrastructure and Operations Division in the Technology and Digital Programs Group. Core Infrastructure branch delivers network, telecommunications, gateway, data centre facilities, cloud connectivity and computing (mid-range and mainframe) and storage infrastructure for Services Australia and our shared service partners. We are seeking to fill EL1/APS6 roles for Data Centre Facility Engineers across our Installation, Design and Operations teams. These roles will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform work under the general guidance of senior staff. Decision making is substantially dependent on judgement, skills and knowledge. They will be responsible for managing or participating in a small team working closely with other teams in the branch. The key duties of the position include Managing/performing the installation, removal, maintenance and relocation of ICT hardware and cabling in data centre facilities in accordance with WHS and industry guidelines and standards, ensuring changes are implemented within timeframes of assigned tasks. Overseeing/designing and documenting data centre cabling and hardware installation changes and removals within documentation guidelines and the agency's Change Management process. Managing/performing logistical relocation of ICT equipment between worksites, maintaining stock management registers, and performing regular audits of agency's data centre facilities, floor layouts, HACs, rack layouts, power, cooling, lighting, electrical and UPS to assist with maintenance and documentation. Developing/maintaining the standards, processes and documentation for data centre facilities including managing/reviewing capacity and efficiency to optimise use of data centre resources. Working with internal hardware teams and infrastructure management tools to assess new requirements, and develop optimised installation plans, accounting for space, power, cooling, structured cabling and connectivity requirements in line with an overarching data centre footprint strategy. Managing/undertaking facilities management activities such as WHS walkthroughs, rack power load monitoring, balancing, remediation and liaising with facility providers. Overseeing/undertaking security access controls, including assessment of requests for secure site access, both daily and ongoing. Managing/performing scheduled after-hours work to provide emergency break-fix.
