The key duties of the position include The Role The work of the AV Engineer APS6 involves: Oversee and manage assigned configuration changes to the CH-47F platform and training devices, engage with stakeholders, develop requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues. The AV Engineer APS6 is responsible to the Engineering Aviation Officer and accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex electronics-electrical engineering work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. The AV Engineer APS6 will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. They will provide detailed electronics-electrical engineering technical and professional advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. The AV Engineer APS6 may be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. They may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes. The AV Engineer APS6 will have stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex or difficult issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team The Cargo Helicopter and Uncrewed Surveillance Program Office (CHUSPO) delivers through-life support for the CH-47F Chinook and Army Aviation System Branch supported fleet of Uncrewed Aerial Systems. The Program Office is made up of the Cargo Helicopter Management Unit (CHMU), the Uncrewed Aerial Systems Management Unit (UASMU), the Engineering Management Unit (EMU), the Army Uncrewed Aerial Systems Program Office (AUASPO) and the Business Management Unit (BMU). To be successful in this role, you will bring the following attributes and skills to the role: In-depth knowledge of the ADF airworthiness framework (DASR). Previous experience in avionics technical development under an engineering management system. Excellent leadership skills including the ability to manage and motivate a team. Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify, resolve and mitigate risks associated with engineering design activities.
