The Role: It's an exciting time to be joining Navantia Australia, one of Australia's leading companies in the Maritime Sustainment industry. Navantia Australia currently has an exciting opportunity for a Platform Control Systems Engineer to join the team out of its Garden Island, Sydney office. In the role you will be responsible for providing front-line engineering support to the customer, Ships crew and Navantia team to maintain the operational performance of the Navantia Platform IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System) onboard Naval Vessels and within the shore based training facilities, including the IPMS-LBTS Through Life Support Facility (TLSF), a simplified replica of the real-life ship platform control system. In this role, you will: Work effectively within the Field Engineering functional group providing specialist technical advice to the Engineering Support Manager, Ships Crew and Customers Undertake engineering analysis & investigations related to asset performance & optimisation, maintenance & defect repairs and obsolescence. Analyse and report on merits of IPMS engineering change proposals including deviations & waivers. Develop Technical Instruction documents & minor engineering changes including quality & safety requirements Oversee shipboard technical assurance activities including test and trials, commissioning & Sea Trials Undertake Pre-refit and Post-refit Condition Assessment trials and reporting Provide OEM services in relation to IPMS including maintaining effective communications with Navantia Sistemas in Spain Provide support to production and maintenance related activities covering safety, cost, schedule, quality and technical requirements related with the IPMS Manage and maintain maintenance budget allocations including assistance in materials procurement related with the IPMS Configure the IPMS TLSF in accordance with the needs of the different Platforms (DDG, AOR and LHD) Provide support to any needs related with the IPMS installed onboard the vessels Provide support to the Data Analytics team Provide support in any hardware and software troubleshooting within the installation of the IPMS onboard Assist in programming IPMS PLCs Undertake engineering analysis & investigations related to asset performance & optimisation, maintenance & defect repairs and obsolescence with regards to the IPMS As the ideal candidate, you will have: Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate engineering discipline - Electrical/Electronics or Mechatronics Experience using PLC and SCADA Software programming and/or activation and commissioning of Automation Systems Experience in engineering projects preferably (but not required) gained in the Marine or Defence industry Ability to read and understand electrical single line diagrams and cabling plans. Ability to understand and apply relevant Australian Standards and IMO requirements High level of skill in Standard Computing Packages (MS Office, etc.) Good communication and team skills with a dedicated approach to meeting customer requirements. Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills. Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance.
