About The Role You will lead our Building & Construction Law team in Sydney, reporting to Tony Peterson, an Accredited Specialist based in our Newcastle office. Tony will provide mentorship while you enjoy autonomy as the senior member of the Sydney team. You will manage complex matters, providing expert support on commercial and residential construction issues. Responsibilities include: Conducting fixed-fee initial consultations with new clients Advising on commercial and residential construction contracts and subcontracts Handling administration of construction contracts and resolving disputes related to delays, defects, and other issues Assisting with Payment Claims, Payment Schedules, Adjudication Applications under NSW Security of Payment Laws, and enforcing statutory debts Representing clients in Supreme Court, District Court, and NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal proceedings Developing and maintaining strong client and referral relationships Supervising an associate solicitor in the Commercial Litigation team located in Sydney About You We are looking for a proactive and culturally aligned team member who is committed to delivering high-quality legal work and exceptional client service. To be successful, you should: Have 8 years of post-admission experience (PAE) Be experienced in Security of Payment Claims, Adjudications, and Commercial and Home Building Disputes in all Courts and NCAT Have experience mentoring junior solicitors Work autonomously and as part of a team, managing your own caseload effectively Have a solution-focused approach to legal practice with a drive to achieve the best outcomes for clients Be a strong communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills Demonstrate strong legal technical, drafting, and advisory skills Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, team members, and referral sources Meet billing targets whist maintaining high attention to detail and quality of work Ideally, you will have, or be interested in obtaining, Specialist Accreditation in Commercial Litigation with a focus on Building & Construction Law. Previous industry experience is highly regarded and considered alongside PAE. What’s in It for You?
