DIRECTORATE: Infrastructure, Planning & Environment CLASSIFICATION: Grade G SALARY: $87,121 to $101,060 pa 11.5% employer contribution to superannuation Plus 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance in addition to your Base Salary REPORTING TO: Team Leader Design EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent Full Time THE POSITION: To undertake investigation, survey, design, CAD drafting and project management of civil and structural design works required for the provision of infrastructure. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Survey Investigation and Design Drafting-CAD and Manual Prepare project scope, options and estimates Assist on projects with construction staff as required Contribute to the effectiveness of work teams and quality procedures Keep records, drawing control and status report submissions Attending to General Public enquiries both at the counter and written submissions Assist in the maintenance and development of standards and procedures documentation and use within the design office Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training. Qualifications KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Internal Our People External Our Customers Suppliers Statutory Authorities Contractors and Developers Consultants Local Business Government Authorities/Agencies EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor. In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award 2014, this position attracts a 3.5% civil liability allowance, which is calculated on the base weekly rate of pay. This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely. This position involves working in a predominantly indoor environment and using a computer is considered a core component of the role. There may be occasional visits to other work locations. The position requires an average level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake occasional physical activities, such as walking and lifting, along with general manual handling tasks as part of a normal working environment. A medical deleration is required for this position. This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with frequent visits to external sites/depots as required. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent relevant work experience Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain) DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Construction Induction Card EXPERIENCE: Relevant experience in Local Government Engineering or similar field SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: The ability to conceptualise design solutions relating to a more complex design situation. Key design parameters or issues of an unusual nature are to be referred to the supervisor for clarification Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision and provide support to other members of the Business Group Competence displayed in managing a number of projects where planning a number of activities and resources is required Ability to provide complex engineering drawings of high quality and volume with minimal supervision Surveying procedures and use of instrumentation CAD Applications (CivilCad and AutoCad) and other computer software applications Civil Engineering knowledge and design skills relating to engineering services such as: Roads Drains Water Supply Sewerage Parking Airport Parks Contract Management Storm Water & Floodplain Management High level of computer literacy in the use of a variety of software applications including MS Office Suite
