About The Role Kickstart your career in construction with Akura as a Design Cadet This hands-on program offers the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and contribute to large-scale industrial projects. This is a permanent part-time position requiring 3 to 4 days a week, part of a two-year program aimed at helping you gain experience across different areas of the Akura business. You’ll assist the design team in developing drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Working closely with senior designers and drafters, you’ll gain valuable insights into the design process from concept to completion, with the added bonus of rotating through different business sectors to broaden your industry knowledge. You’ll have a clear path to building a successful career within the Akura Design team Key Responsibilities • Assist to develop and monitor project budgets and financials analysis • Assist the team in tracking project programmes, timelines and milestones • Support project procurement processes to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing • Prepare Scope of Work, contracts, and other critical project documentation • Maintain organised records of project data and documentation through monitoring project registers • Assist with coordinating consultants and managing external communication • Help prepare regular reports for project updates and reviews • Work on improving and updating internal processes and procedures • Record minutes and manage action items from design meetings • Provide ad-hoc administrative support to the Design Team as needed About You You will possess a strong interest and passion for construction and design, with a desire to build a career within a promising organisation. You will be enrolled in a design or construction-related program or have recently graduated, and you will have the chance to work with us part-time.
