The Infrastructure and Operations division maintains national critical infrastructure for Services Australia and across government. We deliver a robust, secure, and resilient ICT environment so Australian citizens can access government services 24x7. The Core Infrastructure branch delivers network, telecommunications, gateway, data centre facilities, cloud connectivity and computing (mid-range and mainframe) and storage infrastructure. Our cutting-edge mainframe infrastructure is the largest in the country, supporting the Centrelink, Medicare, and Child Support programs. Our network covers more than 1,000 locations across Australia and supports secure network and gateway services for 12 other government agencies. We are seeking to fill roles for both Infrastructure Engineers and Network Engineers within the branch. The key duties of the position include Contributing to the development, operation, support and security of the agency's network infrastructure. Managing and troubleshooting issues in a large-scale network environment. Monitoring network infrastructure and services ensuring related systems are healthy and report on any issues. Providing specialist technical advice in a clear, accurate and timely manner including in briefing material, reports and presentations. Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients, vendors in relation to managed services, incidents, problems and ongoing support arrangements. Technical leadership and mentorship of other engineers, help to build and optimise delivery capability and knowledge sharing. Developing and maintaining processes and procedures and proactively seeking continuous improvement across the network.
