The Opportunity Pollen Ventures has identified a window of opportunity for an innovative B2B Marketplace product within the sustainability sector. With serious backing secured, a strong appetite already established in the market and a timeline to launch, we are seeking a Senior Engineer with proven experience within the B2B/Marketplace/Sustainability space to join this new team in the next 2 months. Key Deliverables With the support of the Pollen team, drive two distinct streams of work in this exciting Greenfield product that will test your knowledge of multi-vendor marketplaces and your experience building out complex data schemas and data structures: Set clear technical milestones and OKRs in collaboration with the Product Manager to ensure progress aligns with the MVP timeline - from ground zero to MVP stage in 6-8 months Leverage your experience in system design and architecture to build, test and deploy a secure, scalable platform Own technical decisions and lead the development of a highly performant data platform and accompanying product marketplace Make informed decisions on databases and APIs - we value predictability over shiny and new Lead the evolution of the platform, iterating and improving on the product based on business and customer feedback: Optimise platform performance for fast, responsive user interactions Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring platform stability, reliability, and security Develop and maintain multiple APIs, integrating 3rd-party services, and managing complex data flows efficiently Utilise GenAI, including prompt engineering, for data transformation and ingestion Oversee cloud infrastructure (AWS/Google Cloud) and deployment pipelines, ensuring effective CI/CD practices for continuous integration and delivery Work closely with product and design teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions Build a high-performing team whilst fostering a collaborative engineering culture: Support recruitment efforts within the development team: crafting job descriptions, interviewing and onboarding Mentor junior developers, participate in peer code reviews, and enforce best-in-class practices for coding, testing, and deployment Promote a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and innovation in the team Ongoing: Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to inform technical strategy Work closely with a cross-functional team (product, marketing, sales), as well as stakeholders to deliver a product that aligns with the company vision Contribute to the development of product strategy and help prioritise the product backlog Develop scalable processes and contribute to comprehensive documentation that promotes best practices and ensures consistency across the engineering team What you want: To walk us through your previous projects using React, Typescript, Python, AWS, ideally in a start-up environment on greenfield projects The opportunity to shape a new venture that will have a significant impact on the sustainability sector To work with some seriously smart humans who are passionate about creating game-changing outputs (that’s us btw ) A hybrid and flexible environment.
