We're looking for someone who enjoys helping others and is eager to learn about the Community Housing sector. You will have a background in property management and tenancy support or related areas, with an understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act 1995. You remain calm and composed in challenging situations, always ensuring a professional and supportive approach. You can clearly convey information and expectations to tenants, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and the support available to them. You will have excellent negotiation skills and be pro-active in seeking mutually beneficial solutions, while also demonstrating genuine care for tenants’ well-being. As a Casual Tenancy Officer, you will step in to cover planned leave for our Tenancy Officers and Housing Inspection Officers. In this dynamic role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of properties, delivering tenancy and property management services in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1995 and our organisation's policies. You will be the primary point of contact for our tenants, dedicated to achieving positive tenancy outcomes. By connecting tenants with essential support services and fostering community development, you will ensure they feel not just housed, but actively involved and supported. • Tenant Focused Service: Ensure tenants understand their responsibilities and provide necessary information for a sustainable tenancy. Collaborate with various service providers to offer a comprehensive and supportive service approach. • Be the First Point of Contact: Respond to tenant inquiries and provide assistance or referrals as needed. • Property Inspections: Conduct both scheduled and impromptu formal tenancy inspections, identifying and addressing any barriers to sustaining successful tenancies. • Maintenance Liaison: Identify, report, and monitor repairs, ensuring properties meet high standards. • Tenancy Compliance: Manage breaches of tenancy conditions with the Manager. • Lease Management: Conduct allocation and lease renewal assessments in line with strategy and policy, carry out formal inspections to ensure properties meet acceptable standards. • Collaboration: Support Administrative Support Officers, Tenancy Officers, and colleagues to ensure a customer-first approach. Work with Maintenance Services to minimise vacancy periods and ensure effective tenant allocation. What do you need to bring? • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. • An understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing a housing crisis or living with mental health and/or disability. • Proven ability to deliver high-quality and effective tenancy support services. • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills. • Strong negotiation and rapport-building skills, and a positive approach to engaging tenants, service providers, and stakeholders. • Effective time management with excellent prioritisation, organisation, and multitasking abilities. • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to navigate and use various software applications relevant to the role.
