The key duties of the position include The Role The Combat System Engineering Manager - This position is responsible for supporting activities associated with the functional design, integration, delivery and certification of the GPF Combat Management System (CMS) and other Combat Systems components. The CSE Manager will support the Warfare Products Director in providing project/product, technical, commercial and relationship management advice, as well as assigned responsibilities to deliver Directorate outcomes. Senior Engineering Manager (SEM) - This position is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the project and product technical activities to deliver Un-crewed Maritime Warfare capability as defined by the relevant agreements including the project Material Acquisition Agreement and Product Delivery Schedules or equivalent. The projects technical activities include functional requirements development, evaluation, certification and acceptance of complex systems into service. The SEM has direct responsibilities, in support to the Project Director and Project Manager, for technical delivery of the required capability to the approved baseline scope, schedule and costs. Engineering System Safety Function Lead - The role represents the Branch at various Working Groups and Boards. The role also provides guidance to industry in their hazard and risk analysis and review industry's safety case reports in accordance with Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems (MIWS) Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) process and Navy polices. The role will be responsible for providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, and liaising with regulatory authorities and technical policy areas within Defence. Engineering Certification Function Lead - The role will lead the implementation of MIWS AEO certification framework in the delivery of projects and products. This includes support to and development of MIWS Project / Product Certification Plans to ensure that specific Materiel System Certification activities are identified, scoped, sequenced and resourced. The role will be responsible for providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, and for liaising with regulatory authorities and technical policy areas within Defence. International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) is the United States regulation that controls the manufacture, sale and distribution of Defence and space-related articles and services. The ITAR contains a list of "restricted" countries that are unable to access ITAR controlled information, and therefore we will need to know if an applicant holds dual citizenship to one of the restricted countries to ensure they meet the requirement to perform the role (and we do not breach any ITAR requirements). This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
