About the opportunity The Communications Branch is responsible for CASA's communication activities. This includes broad public and industry consultation and communication strategies, media engagement, website and intranet management, social media channels, safety promotion activities, graphic design, video production, sponsorships and event management, and development of Plain English Guides. The Communications branch is recruiting a content specialist to fill current and expected vacancies in the following exciting role: Website content designer/senior content designer We are seeking a high performing candidate and will create a merit pool for future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies. Candidates will be considered at the CS3A or CS4 level, commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience. Reporting to the Digital and Creative section manager, the role will work closely and aligned with the website team leader priorities to design, write and ensure content meets user's needs. This includes strategising and aligning content to best practice principles to improve user experience. They will work closely with business areas, communication officers, and publishers to manage content through approvals. They will coordinate, curate, and create content to enhance the readability of content and translate complex language into plain English. This role provides expert advice regarding innovative approaches to web content design, information architecture, user experience design, and web content management. As a content designer, you will: Apply deep understanding of content development and user needs to write, edit and manage the production of website content to support business and safety outcomes Use in-depth knowledge of analytic and other tools to complete research to support trends and inform content improvements Work cooperatively with subject matter experts to develop and maintain website content, ensuring that it is consistent in language and tone, simple and clear to understand, accessible and compliant with CASA's content strategy Work under limited direction to rewrite and review web content to improve readability, reduce duplication and confusion and ensure website visitors can obtain information as quickly and clear as possible Apply your understanding of the Digital Service Standard, website accessibility requirements, the Government Style Manual and other procedures to improve client experience. Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure objectives are met, assisting in planning and managing projects, meeting agreed timelines and managing and reviewing performance Provide advice and support to business areas and communications officer to educate and build content design capability. The key duties of the position include Candidates must have the following skills and experience: Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills with a high level of attention to detail Demonstrated experience in website content design and writing to the Australian Government Style Manual Ability to develop productive relationships with and communicate across all levels of the organisation and deliver results Exceptional time management skills with an ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks with changing and competing priorities Demonstrated experience in using analytics to inform content decisions and proactively improving content and user experience Understand current website and content design trends and be across the relevant digital landscape A relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or industry experience in communications, digital marketing, or journalism. In addition to the above, to be considered at the CS4 level, applicants must also: Work collaboratively with other team members and direct reports to ensure team objectives are met, assisting in planning and managing projects, meeting agreed timelines and managing and reviewing performance Provide expert content design/information architecture advice to solve website content problems and manage issues with a high degree of independence Coordinate and undertake detailed website projects that impact on CASA's strategic outcomes Conduct research and provide strategic direction for CASA's content on CASA's corporate website and subsites. Work with a high level of independence, under broad direction, able to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes. Desirable attributes Knowledge of Australian government online standards and their application, particularly WCAG 2.2 and the Digital Transformation Agency's Digital Services Standard Experience publishing content and working with content management systems in particular Drupal/govCMS/SharePoint online Experience in an aviation or regulatory environment.
