The Opportunity The Test Systems Engineer will support the electrical test systems used as part of the Cochlear Brisbane Manufacturing Facility. This role works with the electrical test system quality gate step within the assembly process for the Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCAs) and Implantable Electronic Assemblies (IEAs) manufactured by Cochlear Brisbane. It is responsible for updates to those systems and deploying new instances as required. These electrical test systems incorporate custom and off-the-shelf electronic components combined with custom software and firmware. As a critical quality gate during the production process, these systems are of high importance and it is critical to ensure system integrity and measurement accuracy. Success within this role is marked by delivery of test system instances and updates to support continued manufacturing as per the current forecast production volume Responsibilities include: Supporting test systems by upgrading the current instances due to product differences, efficiency gains or increased production forecast volumes and deployment of new instances to production to support future growth or new product lines. Problem solving to ascertain root causes of faults within the electrical test systems, which are quite complex and could involve a combination of mechanical hardware, electrical hardware, Labview Software and electrical hardware work on test systems as required in order to support new product/system types, efficiency gains, yield gains, component obsolescence. Deployment of those updates. Electrical and software debugging and fault diagnosis of electrical test systems in production as required. Procurement of components for electrical test systems, confirmation of suitable alternatives to obsolete or hard to find components, testing and qualification as per internal QMS obligations. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience: Minimum: Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Computer Systems, Mechatronics, Software, Biomedical, Mechanical) from an institution recognized by Engineers Australia Electrical circuit knowledge: schematic capture, hardware design Software/firmware operation knowledge: NI Labview is highly desirable, C/C# is advantageous also Documentation skills for capturing configuration, change controls etc in a heavily regulated engineering manufacturing environment Electrical circuit debugging, fault finding, root cause analysis Co-ordination skills for involving cross-functional departments: production, quality, maintenance, R&D teams Ideal: NI Labview programming Electrical ATE design, debugging Altium Designer Electrical CAD ISO 13485 / 21 CFR Part 821 as it applies to engineering design and manufacturing Device configuration PLM, ERP, MES experience Cochlear Summary Cochlear’s mission is to help people hear and be heard.
