This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a team of highly motivated specialists, interact & build relationships with stakeholders from across Customer Experience and extend your understanding of our water products and the environmental & treatment factors that impact its quality. About us We are the largest dedicated water and wastewater laboratory in the southern hemisphere with Tier 1 quality in our laboratory and field performance. This allows us to provide the highest level of assurance to the community of Sydney Water’s quality product. We undertake sampling and analysis across all products, such as source water, drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, environmental waters (i.e. river, beaches, ocean sediments), stormwater, biosolids, sludges, grit & screenings. Key tasks include: Design scientific investigations that deliver effective and efficient outcomes and meet customer specifications Analyse and verify data (using automated validation processes wherever possible) to ensure the quality of data sets and information. Prepare regulatory and operational reports to meet customer specifications in a timely and efficient manner Deliver data and interpretive reports in an appropriate form for the target audience Leverage the organisations data sets to maximise their use for the benefit of decision making in the treatment and delivery of water products Utilise existing data to investigate trends and demonstrate the organisations performance in the delivery and discharge of water products About you Tertiary qualifications in Science/ Environmental Management or relevant discipline Strong scientific and analytical skills with the ability to interpret statistical data and trends. Strong customer focus with the ability to accurately document customer requirements, build productive working relationships and deliver outcomes to meet customer expectations. Advanced communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to provide information for a variety of audiences (including the public, internal customers, regulators and management). Experience in experimental design and water quality data analysis Experience in developing and reviewing complex data and interpretive reports, scientific papers and plans for regulators, stakeholders and customers. Experience in analysing trends in water quality data and drawing conclusions in the context of regulatory requirements Experience in communicating technical and scientific data to the public and on websites Please note as part of the application process, you will be asked to undergo background checks which includes a criminal history check.
