We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Software Engineering to join our Engineering team on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the General Manager Engineering. About the Role Direct the performance of the team to deliver projects on-time, to scope and within budget. Drive engineering excellence, and best practices in firmware development. Manage team productivity, ensuring performance is in line with agreements, development opportunities are maximised, and downtime minimised. Maintain software & firmware roadmaps, ensuring our firmware continues to evolve, keeping up with the latest technology standards and product requirements. Develop, document, review and maintain product firmware requirements specifications. Create and maintain engineering group procedures, processes and quality documentation. Support project planning ensuring successful execution to agreed project/product requirements. Work closely with other engineering functions, including electronic and mechanical design teams, and project managers, to achieve successful project outcomes. Engage with engineering and non-engineering staff across GME to ensure that software engineering requirements are understood within the wider objectives of the business. Manage team member performance, review performance to agreed objectives and targets. Advocate for team initiative & ownership – empower collaboration and learning . About You Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a similar discipline. Able to obtain and maintain a NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance. At least 10 years firmware engineering experience in consumer electronics development or similar field, of which at least 4 years is in leading software engineering teams. Experience working in an Agile development environment & familiar with Jira / Confluence. Experience with release planning and configuration management. Demonstrable experience in the development and review of software requirements. Experience developing embedded software in C for resource constrained devices such as STM32. Experience in real-time embedded systems /real-time operating systems. Familiar with protocols such as RS422,SPI,I2C,USB and Bluetooth/wireless technologies. Experience working with Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001. A sound understanding of hardware product development, including the ability to technically review code and electronic designs or schematics (digital, mixed signal, & analogue). Familiar with the use of common test instruments such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, function generators, spectrum analysers, logic analysers, RF probes and power supplies. Familiar with microcontrollers and microprocessors development tools and systems. Familiar with common version control, task management and requirements management tools including Jira, Git, SpiraTeam and SVN.
