The Moreton Bay Boys' College is seeking a suitably qualified to join the team. THE COLLEGE Established in 2003 MBBC is a P – 12 boys’ school set in the leafy bayside suburb of Manly West. It currently has 500 plus enrolments. At MBBC the Primary School consists of Years Prep to 6 with the Primary School Years 7 – 12. Senior boys follow the QCAA pathways with the majority of boys obtaining an ATAR. Moreton Bay Boys' College is seeking an experienced and QCT-qualified Gifted and Talented Teacher . This is a permanent, full-time position, commencing in Term 1, 2025. 1. APPOINTMENT The Gifted and Talented Teacher (referred to as the Learning Enrichment Teacher within the college) is appointed by the CEO & Executive Principal, is responsible to the Principal and reports directly to the Learning Enhancement Coordinator. The Learning Enrichment Teacher will primarily focus on: Developing and delivering enrichment and gifted and talented education programs for students from Prep through to Year 12. Additionally, the role includes providing Learning Enhancement (Support) for students in Prep through to Year 12. 2. Duties and Responsibilities for Learning Enrichment Oversee and implement procedures for identifying students with academic and creative giftedness. Oversee and implement Primary and Secondary Enrichment sessions for bright and gifted students. Analyse standardised achievement data for bright and gifted students to set individualised goals and to inform teaching and learning. Create and maintain records and files on students participating in enrichment and gifted and talented programs. Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop, implement and review learning plans for all identified students. Yearly timetabling of Primary Learning Enrichment in class support hours. Provide professional development for teaching staff in order to enhance programming for students with gifted and talented needs. Collaborate with and provide coaching for classroom teachers on strategies for meeting students’ special needs relative to gifted and talented programming. Coordinate the development of special projects or activities and events that provide opportunity for students to be extended/enriched and that promote the college as a school that values and celebrates giftedness. Regularly communicate with parents and staff about the gifted and talented program. Relate to and manage a range of learners including twice exceptional students. Confer with the Learning Enhancement Coordinator and the College Leadership Team regarding resources to enhance the gifted and talented program. Contribute to the evaluation of existing curriculum in order to identify opportunities for extension. Participate in the deliberations on learning needs of all students. Liaise with School Guidance Officer. Attend weekly Primary Staff Meetings and Year level meetings. 3. Duties and Responsibilities for Learning Enhancement Technical Practices to Support Teaching and Learning Diagnostic assessment of individuals, small groups and class groups including new students, including standardised and Literacy Analysis tests. Case load Manager for Prep – Year 6, including writing Personal Learning Plans, meeting with parents and Teachers as well as liaising with external providers Reading Intervention classes (using reading intervention programs and strategies for Lower and Upper Primary Students) Decodable and MacqLit experience preferrable. Aspects of other assessment e.g. Adjustments for NAPLAN . Proficient with Reading Eggs, the Accelerated Reading Program and Decodables. Support with Primary Years Program including Year 6 Exhibition. Annual NCCD collection of Data. Preparing Camp Management Forms. Recording and Reporting Record keeping of all assessment results and reports. Analysis of statistics Communicating results of assessment and professional reports to staff. Teaching and Learning Individual and small group withdrawal for Reading Intervention. Teachers Assistance with resources; including scaffolding and Chunking, graphic organisers and sensory tools. Information about specific teaching and learning practices. Supervision of the implementation of Personal Learning Plans. Assisting with curriculum differentiation for students with a Learning Disorder or Disability. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Well developed organisational and administrative skills. Strong effective communication skills. Ability to generate and implement policy and procedures. Strategic planning ability, working with curriculum leaders to develop and document action plans. Ability to facilitate and chair meetings and work with staff and parents in a variety of subject areas to design and implement student-centred learning experiences. High level of IT competency including use of Microsoft Edge, Dragon Dictation Software, Dictate, Word, Excel, Email and PowerPoint. Ability to work in partnership with students, parents and classroom teachers to achieve the best possible outcome for each individual student. Flexible in approach and thinking Ability to work within a large team of Learning Enhancement staff. Passionate about Differentiation and Inclusivity. Empathetic to the needs of students and parents.
