Our in-house legal teams are currently seeking mid or senior level lawyers (minimum 3 years PQE) eager to apply and enhance their expertise and experience whilst working on some of the most complex and interesting State shaping projects in NSW. As a Senior Legal Officer , you will provide strategic, client focused legal advice and services including leading Departmental negotiations in areas including commercial law, real property law and property development matters to meet the Department’s and the broader Portfolio needs to support the accelerated delivery of homes and other strategic priorities. As an experienced professional, you will also support the Principal Legal Officers and Directors to drive the vision and direction of the teams by motivating, mentoring and supervising junior members to deliver on initiatives and goals whilst striving to create an inclusive, responsive and effective environment. About You To be successful in this role, you will have a strong property law background, have a pragmatic approach to issues, and be comfortable advising on areas including leasing, divestments, acquisitions, other property related transactions. You will have exceptional stakeholder management skills and be confident advising diverse stakeholder groups at all levels. You will also have demonstrated expertise and experience in providing comprehensive legal advice and support. You will have excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and stakeholder management skills to confidently engage with and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders. What you will bring to the role Prior expertise and experience in either advisory or transactional work across one or more of the following areas: Property law Contract and Commercial Law Property Development Law Administrative Law. In addition, you will: Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to prepare and deliver clear, authoritative, and practical advice. Have proven negotiation skills and abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations. Display solid time management and organisational skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently. Have resilience to persevere through obstacles and maintain productivity during challenging times. Be capable of driving outcomes while effectively involving stakeholders throughout the process, fostering collaboration and buy-in. Be autonomous and proficient in working independently, taking initiative, and making decisions. Actively contribute to a highly collegiate and supportive team culture.
