D’Arcy Weil is representing a leading renewable energy company specialising in the development, construction, and operation of large-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. As a Power Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical design and analysis of renewable energy projects, ensuring their successful integration into the grid. You will work closely with project development teams, network service providers (NSPs), and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) to deliver high-performance, reliable, and compliant power systems. Key Responsibilities: Conduct detailed power system studies, including load flow analysis, fault level calculations, and stability assessments. Develop and optimise electrical designs for wind, solar, and BESS projects, ensuring compliance with grid connection requirements. Prepare technical documentation, including connection applications, compliance reports, and performance models. Liaise with NSPs, AEMO, and other key stakeholders to secure grid connection approvals. Perform power system modelling using software tools such as PSS-E, PSCAD, and DigSILENT PowerFactory. Support the design and integration of protection systems, control systems, and SCADA for renewable energy projects. Provide technical input during the procurement and construction phases, ensuring alignment with project specifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the seamless delivery of projects from concept to commissioning. Stay informed about industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting power systems. Participate in technical discussions and provide expertise to optimise project design and performance. Ensure all projects meet health, safety, and environmental standards. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering, specifically within the renewable energy sector. Strong technical knowledge of power systems, including grid connection processes for wind, solar, and BESS projects. Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS-E, PSCAD, DigSILENT PowerFactory). Experience in the design and optimisation of electrical systems for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
