The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036. About the Role Strathfield Council is seeking a Customer Service Assistant on a permanent, part time basis to provide library circulation and customer services, assist with the maintenance of service areas and deliver information services to library customers. In order to undertake the role, it requires the following duties: Assist with general library duties such as loans, returns, shelving, book lockers, reservations, desk shifts as rostered, including weekend and evening shifts as required. Provide high-quality customer service with customers from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds whilst working in a busy environment by providing effective communication skills. Contribute to the promotion and marketing of programs and events for Library services including the library’s social media sites and liaise with Council’s Communication Department About You The successful candidate will possess the following: Higher School Certificate and extensive practical library experience, or Higher School Certificate and experience in customer focused service delivery Good communication (oral Demonstrated customer service skills, including the ability to respond promptly and courteously to a diverse range of service needs and a good knowledge of library services, products, and collections. Demonstrated strong communication and problems solving skills and ability to provide information services to a culturally diverse public. Proven ability to work in a team environment, individually and under limited supervision. Demonstrated commitment to achieving Council’s values and organisational behaviours.
