THE ROLE Saunders Civilbuild team is growing We are seeking enthusiastic Junior Civil Project Engineers to join our busy bridge construction team on a full-time basis. The role is based out of our Charlestown office and will require travel to and the delivery of projects across NSW. Reporting to the Project Manager your role will involve supporting the project team on assigned projects assisting with procurement and coordination of resources and subcontractors and effectively engaging with all stakeholders. The chosen candidate will utilise their knowledge of civil engineering and further develop their experience in project management to deliver projects while balancing customer delivery expectations around quality and contract specifications with those of Saunders. These include cost management, profitability and ensuring compliance with company policies and legislation on health, safety and environment. The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment and subcontracting services required on the project. Determining construction methods, materials, and quality standards, and drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures Analyse the results of tests on building materials, such as concrete, wood, asphalt, or steel, for use in particular projects. Prepare cost estimates for materials, equipment, or labour to determine a project’s economic feasibility. Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors during the planning and risk-analysis stages of a project. Oversee and analyse the results of soil testing to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations. Perform or oversee surveying operations to establish building locations, site layouts, reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction. Organizing and directing site labour and the delivery of construction materials, plant, and equipment, and establishing detailed programs for the coordination of site activities Work with the Project Manager in managing the day-to-day site management and administration. Lead and promote safe behaviours and work practices Accountability for maintaining quality records on the project. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE To be successful in the role you will have: A degree in civil engineering, construction management or similar Strong commitment to safety, customer satisfaction and quality Ability to cultivate and maintain a positive relationships Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good organisation skills. Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
