Unique value of the role You’ll be reporting to the Head of Engineering and working closely with cross-functional teams to embed security best practices into every stage of our development and operational processes. You will be the go to security expert and help produce and execute on a security roadmap. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our security infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of security for our cloud-based environments. Your expertise will be essential in threat modelling, risk assessment, vulnerability management, and incident response. Over the first couple of years you will help us: Deliver a Patient Health Wallet, which will empower patients to better manage their health. Enable patients and providers to share clinically sensitive information by architecting a secure and robust solution. Go from alignment on SOC-2 to being fully certified. Stakeholders & Relationships Direct Manager - Head of Engineering Skip Level Manager - CEO Experiences, Capabilities & Qualifications Required Experience, Capabilities & Skills 7 years of experience in environments where your role has focused on Security Engineering, Information Security, or similar responsibilities. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing security infrastructure in cloud-based environments (AWS preferred). Expertise in threat modelling, risk assessment, and vulnerability management. Proficiency in security tools and technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, and endpoint protection. Strong understanding of authentication and authorization frameworks Experience with incident response, forensic analysis, and security monitoring. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST CSF, and SOC2. Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines. Experience writing backend software - in particular Ruby (RoR) Required Education / Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
