Due to Navantia Australia’s ongoing success, we have exciting opportunities for Equipment and Outfit Engineers at all levels to join the team out of its Garden Island, Sydney office. Operating under the Design Support Contractor (DSC) contract, you will be responsible for providing design services to deliver systems for naval ships. Systems responsibility includes the following, but the limited too: Outfit design activities, such as compartment arrangements, structural closures, Fire Protection, deck arrangements, equipment arrangements, ladders/platforms, cargo handling systems and equipment, minor foundations, mooring and anchoring systems, coating preservation and deck coverings etc. Your responsibilities will include: Provide experience and broad technical knowledge of functional and detailed design related to the Outfitting design and Systems (equipment’s stowage/foundations, furniture, structural closures, metal joiner doors and bulkheads, deck coverings, false floors, false ceilings, linings, insulation, etc.) of a naval ship. Work effectively within the broader Navantia Engineering Team by engaging and working with the different engineering disciplines. Plan and coordinate engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including the development of project plans, schedule and engagement of internal and external stakeholders. Participate in the development of ship’s platform systems documentation: impact assessment analyses, drawings, reports, etc. Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established Navantia and customer standards. Develop naval ships’ auxiliary systems specifications and other design documentation. Ensure ship systems are designed, delivered and maintained within Classification Society rules and ship design standards. Ensure compliance to legislative requirements – IMO, AMSA, Commercial and Naval Standards. Liaison with Clients (internal & external) and subcontractors. Requirement’s analysis and verification development. Perform design studies and analysis using Hull Design, 3D modelling, Finite Element and other engineering software packages. Project Management, including management of task schedule, resourcing, budget and progress monitoring and reporting. Participate in design coordination meetings with engineering team members. Participate in design review meetings with the client. Assist in planning and coordinating on‐board installation works, including scopes of work, installation work packages and test procedures. As the ideal candidate, you will have: Bachelor’s degree ‐ Engineering Proven ability to produce clear and well‐presented reports to a suitable quality and standard. Demonstrate an understanding of mechanical and ships platform systems (such as propulsion, hydraulics, pumps, piping, cranes, winches, HVAC, fire suppression systems etc.). Experience in the relevant CAD/3D software package (Micro‐station, AUTOCAD). Experience working with technical shipbuilding regulations (Classification Society and IMO requirements). Project management skills and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision‐making skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high‐pressure environment. Ability to communicate, (written and verbal), effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients. Australian Citizenship.
