The Systems Engineer will be part of a small team internally focused on Azure and on-prem environments. Approach Consulting are seeking experienced Senior Systems Engineers. This hands-on technical role will be responsible for the administration, management, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and on-premises systems. You will ensure that infrastructure services meet business requirements in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Working with multidisciplinary agile teams, you will support, sustain, and enhance mission-critical systems that deliver value to all employees. Key Responsibilities: Technical advice for infrastructure service implementation and solution design. Optimize and maintain existing infrastructure by exploring new technologies, ensuring secure, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Utilize ITIL frameworks and both vendor and custom tools to manage requests and resolve problems efficiently. Deliver tier 3 support for infrastructure and application platforms, meeting service-level expectations and resolving issues promptly. Participate in agile projects and sprints, deploying solutions in line with company standards and processes. Engage in on-call rotations and weekend work (as required). Qualifications/Experience: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. At least 4 years of experience in systems administration with both Windows and Linux. Proven expertise in configuring and securing Azure services, including PaaS, IaaS, and Azure Networking. Extensive experience managing Windows Servers (2012-2022) and knowledge of infrastructure-related best practices, particularly in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR). Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Terraform, and experience working with technologies like Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Active Directory, Hyper-V, DHCP, and DNS. Familiarity with Meraki networking solutions and backup technologies such as Rubrik security Cloud. Understanding of Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint) and Azure DevOps practices is highly advantageous. Industry certifications in Azure, M365, MCSA, or Meraki would be a strong asset. Desired Attributes: Ability to think strategically while solving problems and delivering solutions. Strong attention to detail, coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proven track record of working effectively under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Capable of exercising sound judgment and pragmatic decision-making in complex technical environments.
