Description Office of General Counsel Permanent/continuing, full-time appointment Level 8/9: $113,063 $140,279 17% superannuation 2 positions available UOW's Office of General Counsel has primary responsibility for management of the University’s legal and information compliance functions in pursuit of UOW’s strategic goals. Located within the Office is the Legal Services Unit, a collaborative and dynamic team who are looking to recruit an experienced lawyer (minimum 3 years PQE) to contribute to the delivery of high quality, independent professional legal advice and compliance services. We provide legal support across the University's functions, meaning our day-to-day practice is diverse and challenging. Key duties of the role include the efficient provision of high quality legal advice in a wide range of areas including contract law and drafting complex legal documents, commercial law, administrative law, corporate governance, intellectual property, litigation and disputes, property law, and generally delivering a client focused service in a busy and demanding professional environment. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the selection criteria including: Admission in an Australian jurisdiction and NSW Practising Certificate (or eligibility to hold). Outstanding practical and technical legal skills and at least 3 years of post admission experience working in at least two of the following areas of law: corporate governance; contract and commercial law; intellectual property; public sector / administrative law; property law; litigation/disputes. High level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to provide timely, concise and pragmatic legal advice and solutions. Excellent organisation, file management and time management skills and consistent attention to detail. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, professional, able to work independently and efficiently in a collaborative team environment, and will possess positive interpersonal skills and the ability to engage successfully with staff and officers at all levels of the University. Experience in an in-house and/or tertiary education environment would be highly desirable but not essential.
