The Opportunity We are hiring a Legal Counsel, Commercial Contracting (mat leave role) to join our Legal team. Reporting to the Director, Commercial Contracting – Legal, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing high quality legal advice and services on matters relating to the operations and other business activities of the Future Fund Board of Guardians and the Future Fund Management Agency. The role is focussed on supporting the organisation on the commercial arrangements that underpin its business operations, including, for example, procurement. The position is a full-time role for a fixed term period of 15 months. Key Responsibilities Legal Advice and Services Provide timely commercial legal advice and support to the organisation on various commercial matters Review, draft and negotiate Future Fund’s commercial contracts including technology, consultancy and service agreements Work with the Legal team to manage and advise on legal risk Liaise with external counsel regarding organisational operations and business activities Monitor and report on new and proposed laws and regulations that may impact Future Fund’s activities Participate and/or contribute to project initiatives including continuous improvement initiatives Relationship Management Work with the Legal team to develop and manage relationships with external lawyers and advisors Foster and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. About You Are you an experienced commercial lawyer from a major law firm or high-quality organisation, skilled in advising on transactions and contracts, ideally in a fast paced environment? It is desirable but not essential for you to have experience in or knowledge of Commonwealth Government procurement rules and contracts or technology law? Are you a strong communicator, able to build and manage relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, and thrive in a busy, evolving environment? Are you a supportive team member who will seek more work when not at full capacity? Qualifications A law degree or a legal qualification from an Australian tertiary institution recognised for admission to practice in Australia Admitted to practice in Australia as a solicitor and be currently eligible to hold an unconditional Victorian legal practising certificate Post-qualification experience of 4-8 years We Are For Everyone At Future Fund, we are better for our differences.
