Job Description About the role The Electronics Design Engineer is a specialist within EOS Defence Systems (EOS DS) and is responsible for applying routine systematic approaches in a team-based environment. You will solve problems using disciplined engineering techniques (e.g. software, mechanical, electronics, system, testing etc). The role is also responsible for applying knowledge to the development of products and designs that support the product development and product goals. In this role you will: Apply electrical engineering technical knowledge in conjunction with schematic and PCB capture to satisfy defined design requirements within specified time frames in accordance with defined quality and standards. Apply designs that account for design for manufacture, assembly and cost. Work with System and Project Engineers to ensure that the design produced satisfies the defined requirements. Develop, review, update, modify electrical design plans and work schedules. Assist with resolving problems associated with designs, particularly with regards to manufacturing effort and repeatability. Simulate analogue and digital circuits. Document designs including calculations, design options and decisions. Conduct design reviews with the view to endorse electrical design. Provide electronics design analyses in support of product development activities. Conduct research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting of equipment. Apply test, evaluation, characterisation, verification & validation of electronic subsystems in collaboration with test engineers. Commercial in Confidence Provide support with the preparation of all documentation required to support designs. Provide test and evaluation activities on electronics designs to verify and sign-off of design requirements. Prototype electronic circuits, wiring harnesses and other systems. Work closely with other engineering disciplines to enable cohesive and complete system designs. Desired Skills and Experience About You The Electronics Design Engineer exercises engineering technical knowledge within specialist disciplines and has ability to work under general direction to apply strategic alignment. Adherence to governance and standards and interacting with people in cross functional teams to achieve business outcomes with the appropriate levels of integrity, safety, and ethics of these designs is critical to the role. You need to be ethical, influencer and problem solver who works and interacts with people in cross functional multidisciplinary teams to solve routine engineering problems and solutions. Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role. Expertise in circuit design in Altium Designer is most desirable In depth knowledge in Digital and Analogue circuit design Expertise in embedded microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs is desirable Knowledge of communication buses i.e.I2C, CAN, SPI, Ethernet etc. Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering design software. A collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and a passion and aptitude for problem solving. An ability to apply engineering practices with experience across the engineering lifecycle through concept development, design, integration, test, sustainment and delivery. Experience with multi disciplinary teams in a structured product development or project engineering environment is desirable. Experience in Defence sector is desirable. Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering or similar discipline. Post Graduate qualifications in Engineering is desirable.
