The opportunity… As a result of ongoing growth, we are seeking a motivated ‘dual-hatted’ Lawyer and Quantitative Professional based in Sydney in our second line of defense team. The purpose of this role is to assist the Line 2 function in the identification, assessment and mitigation of various inherent, residual and emerging risks, using quantitative methods to support qualitative insights. To be successful in this role you will have: Real passion for numbers, statistics and financial data; Genuine interest in how data supports the identification of financial and regulatory risks; Demonstrated ability to be receptive to feedback and adapt to new learning styles; and You will be responsible to: Provide technical expertise to enable the Chief Risk Officer and Legal Counsel (Risk & Compliance) to effectively challenge the business on its risk management practices; Perform ongoing analysis and reporting on financial and operational risks; Complete and regularly update risk assessments on new and existing vendors; Support the Australian and New Zealand Risk and Compliance team to ensure business operations and practices align with the risk management framework, company policies, regulatory obligations and overall risk appetite; Manage and monitor our existing prudential, financial services and/or licensing obligations; and Drive the timely identification, management and reporting of all risk. About you… We’re looking for someone who: Has an enthusiastic interest in developing their career in the Financial Services/Insurance industry; Has, or is in their final year of a legal qualification that has been combined with a degree with a quantitative focus (e.g. Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Business Analytics, Finance, Data Science, Economics, Statistics and/or Risk); Is a critical thinker with strong written and oral communication/interpersonal skills; Has a high level of personal integrity as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters; and Is a self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team and a rapidly changing environment.
