About the job We are seeking a mid-level Solicitor with front end construction expertise to join our Brisbane Construction team. About the role Our market leading Construction practice is currently seeking a mid-level Solicitor to join our Brisbane team. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a collegiate and high performing team advising on some of the country’s most exciting projects. You will work closely with partners Scott Budd and Shannon Etwell. Scott provides advice on all aspects of front-end project work, risk analysis and allocation, project structuring, development of delivery systems, contract and tender preparation, bid assessment and bid advice. In addition, Scott is a highly experienced construction litigator, having conducted court proceedings in all States of Australia, as well as international and domestic arbitrations. Shannon has extensive experience in front end projects work and specialises in drafting and negotiating high value and complex project documentation, including PPP project deeds, EPC and EPCM contracts, D&C contracts, construction contracts, operation and maintenance agreements and offshore procurement agreements. He also provides advice on project structuring and risk management, contract administration and claims management, tender analysis, and advice on interface issues between construction, development and project finance documents. This role involves advising on a diverse range of major transactions and issues for some of Australia’s pre-eminent energy, resources and infrastructure companies. We are a close-knit team with a market-leading presence in Brisbane and around Australia. The team has advised on: • Major government projects in Queensland and New South Wales, including projects for the 2032 Olympics • Inland Rail: advising ARTC on all aspects of the Gowrie to Kagaru PPP project and ARTC’s development agreement with the State of Queensland • Queens Wharf Development: advising Destination Brisbane Consortium on the construction of the multi-billion dollar Queens Wharf Integrated Resort Project in Brisbane • Lightsource BP: advising on all aspects of Lightsource BP’s development of its Wellington, Woolooga, Wunghnu, Wyalong, Kowhai Park and Goulburn Solar Farms • Origin Energy on the Yanco Delta Wind Farm and various BESS projects • APA Group: advising on the development of Orbost Gas Processing Plant, Badgingarra Wind and Solar Farms, Emu Downs Solar Farm, Diamantina Power Station, Leichardt Power Station, Georgina Power Station and Thomson Power Station • One of the largest arbitrations in Australia, involving the Ichthys LNG Project, with total claims exceeding A$3bn and multi-national parties and law firms In this role you will be responsible for complex and varied legal work including: • drafting and providing commercial advice on all forms of construction and project documentation, ranging from design and construct to ECI and other forms of relationship contracting, EPC and O&M across a wide range of sectors; • providing strategic advice on project delivery models; and • carrying out construction contract reviews, preparing due diligence reports and providing project administration advice You will have • front-end construction expertise across a wide range of sectors and enjoy working as part of a committed team • first rate experience of drafting complex construction and project documents • a positive attitude • excellent analytical, communication and research skills • strong commitment to client service and well-developed relationship management ability - you will play a role in supporting and actively developing our relationships with clients and other areas of the firm • team focus - to facilitate effective teamwork by developing strong internal relationships • enthusiasm to be involved in business development activities Who are we?
