While the stadium has hosted almost every popular sport, the Gabba is first and foremost the home of Test cricket in Queensland and has played host to countless international Tests and One-Day cricket series. About the Role Reporting to the Venue Manager/Operations Manager, this is a unique opportunity for a talented Functions/Events Sales Coordinator to effectively manage the non-matchday sales. This involves enquiries and bookings for functions, events, and corporate groups outside of game days, it requires you to communicate the requirements of converted bookings to the operational management team and help deliver these events. The role also coordinates the delivery of the Stadium’s Members Dining facility to meet and exceed guest expectations. The role involves using Ungerboeck (USI) which is our corporate ordering/invoicing system. About You To be considered for the role you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive practical experience in a similar role, preferably with a similar-sized venue. Key Responsibilities: Administer and coordinate all sales and event activity including proposals, planning, contracting, and invoicing to maximise business potential and cost efficiencies. Be actively involved in sales and marketing activities. Be familiar with, demonstrate and carry out procedures in the setting up and service in all areas. Brief, coordinate, and instruct all food and beverage staff prior to functions on all relevant details. Consistently strive to bring new innovations and process improvement through continuous research on trends and developments in the events and functions space. Develop and execute an annual Functions and Events Plan aligned with The Gabba Stadium’s sales and marketing objectives. Develop and execute plans for functions staffing and staff briefings. Develop strong relationships with key accounts. Effectively manage the operations of the functions to ensure all deadlines are met and all functions are run successfully in accordance with O’Brien Group Australia operating policies and procedures. Ensure each function is conducted in accordance with the Stadium’s contractual obligations to the respective hirer. Ensure that food and beverage staff are maximising their efficiency at all times. Functions and events meet the standards and expectations of clients and management in relation to client liaison, contracts, and catering services. Liaise with the Executive Chef and the kitchen regarding any food/dietary requirements as well as service times. Any changes must be advised immediately. Liaise with the staffing department to secure the correct numbers of function staff for each event. Manage and coordinate suppliers, handle client queries and troubleshoot on the day of the function to ensure that all runs smoothly. Measure and report performance of all sales and assess against goals. Overall end-to-end coordination, set up and delivery of the Members Dining Room and non-matchday functions. Oversee the production of all function documentation and ensure it is completed in a timely manner. Preparation of seating plans and guest lists. Project expenses, determine staffing, space, and equipment needs for each function. Respond to incoming requests for proposals and attend to incoming calls and requests for site visits by potential customers with a view to securing their business. Use creative flair and business acumen to assist in establishing, developing, and maintaining meaningful business relationships with current and prospective clients.
