Senior Systems Engineer - Day Rate Contract - Fin-Tech - Sydney Senior Systems Engineer - Day Rate Contract - Fin-Tech - Sydney We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to join one of our fin-tech clients in in Sydney for an initial 6 month contract. Responsibilities: Managing Application Hosts: Oversee and maintain application hosts, tools, databases, web services, libraries, and other related components. Network Device Configuration: Set up and configure network devices such as routers, switches, and CISCO ASA. Collaboration: Partner with Development and Operations Engineers to provide infrastructure recommendations that align with application requirements. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Manage backup and restoration processes, conduct disaster recovery testing, and implement infrastructure automation. Vendor Coordination: Liaise with hardware and software vendors, assess, and recommend new technologies. Service Environment Maintenance: Maintain and enhance the service environment, perform proactive analysis, and troubleshoot issues. Support: Provide support, diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues, and ensure adherence to security standards. Technical Operations: Participate in daily technical operations meetings and keep documentation up-to-date. Qualifications and Skills: Experience: At least 5 years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining system hardware and operating environments. Network Knowledge: In-depth understanding of network configuration, routing, firewalls, IPSec, BGP, VLAN, DMZ, and other network protocols. Operating Systems: Proficient in Windows and Linux OS, VMWare VSphere/VCentre, and Cloud platforms (Azure). System Internals: Comprehensive knowledge of system internals, including scheduling, memory management, and the TCP/IP stack. Technical Expertise: Expertise in Active Directory (AD), LDAP, DNS, NFS, IAAS, and experience with backup and recovery policies. Scripting and Database: Skilled in scripting languages and SQLServer. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Security: Knowledge of PCI compliance, Security Configuration Management, and Vulnerability tools. Storage Management: Experience in managing and configuring SAN. Additional Skills: Familiarity with AIX OS and Agile methodology.
