With a further new facility being developed in 2028, this opening will see you managing the current maintenance team's day-to-day operations and acting as a critical technical engineering interface for the new asset. You will interact with consultants and contractors and ensure the client’s vision is represented from an engineering sustainability and technology perspective. This role will see you drive and evaluate existing operations and be exposed to the latest technologies with the new development plans using BIM and Digital Twin technologies. The Opportunity: Reporting to the Head of Facilities & Security, you will be regarded as a technical/engineering expert for the precinct, encapsulating and leading the engineering team and engineering/asset management function, including the new development. Your responsibilities will include the following: Delivering strategic, professional and compliant engineering services and projects Leading, managing and motivating the engineering team, both internal and external, comprising in-house maintenance technicians, contractors and consultants and driving forward high performance and continuous improvement Continued refinement of strategic engineering services frameworks, including strategic plans, policies, systems, technologies and procedures. Championing environmentally sustainable engineering and building services and leading projects and initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint, particularly in energy and water usage Managing all outsourced Engineering services, including running procurement processes, negotiating contracts and monitoring contractor performance, to ensure exceptional service delivery and value for money. Actively plan and manage the Engineering Services operating and capital budgets, including contributing to developing the Asset Management Strategy and drafting funding submissions and business cases for internal and external funding of new projects, initiatives, and assets. Qualifications and Qualities required: With such a unique role, we require an engineering professional committed to working in a vibrant, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and business-focused environment with strong operational skills. You will be a tertiary-qualified engineer with a strong record of achievement in a strategic engineering role and critical infrastructure management. Proven experience managing essential mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and VT services in a central facility such as a shopping centre, airport, hospital or commercial precinct is necessary. Solid experience developing high-performing in-house and external service provision teams and delivering service excellence. Strategic insight to evaluate contractor performance, KPIs, procurement, and pushing engineering standards and performance. A keen interest in sustainability and innovation in technology with exposure to how BIM and Smart Building Technologies will assist in FM delivery. Asset management forecasting and the delivery of capital planning and upgrades projects and overall OPEX and CAPEX budget management. You will demonstrate the ability to prepare high-level reports and briefing papers for Executive Management Teams, government and other stakeholders as required.
