Queensland Rail is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our QTMP Growth SEQ Technical Capability team based in Brisbane. Queensland Rail is partnering with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to deliver its Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP.) The program includes the design and manufacture of 65 new trains to cater for the growing demand for rail services within Southeast Queensland. The new trains will be manufactured and maintained in Queensland thus creating jobs in the rail industry and associated supply chains. This is a fixed term position until 2028. About the team Our LV Engineering team at Queensland Rail specialise in providing top-tier Electrical Engineering design and technical support for all non-traction electrical infrastructure, including LV and HV systems across SEQ and Regional Qld areas. Our team plays a crucial role in delivering outcomes supporting Operational and Capex Projects. Your opportunity Undertake detailed design for multiple projects. Review design documentation from external consultants. Provide technical support for electrical applications to project constructions and facilities electricians. Self-manage personal milestone deliverables. Supervise and offer technical support to junior engineers and technical officers. What you will bring Well-rounded Electrical Engineering experience in the railway environment. The ideal candidate should be largely autonomous in delivering personal milestones, yet aware of their limitations and ready to seek information when necessary. The ability to work effectively as part of a team of engineers towards a common goal is essential. Comprehensive experience in electrical engineering. Proven track record in the railway industry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Experience mentoring developing engineers or technical officers. Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ). International qualifications will need to be recognised under the Washington Accord or demonstrated by ‘an entry to practice competently’ having been awarded to you by Engineers Australia and accepted by Queensland Rail. Hours - typically working 76 hours per fortnight with flexibility to be available for occasional outside hours or weekend commissioning work – TOIL or paid overtime applies. Your journey matters.
