Based in our Sydney Barangaroo office, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Customer Officer and Customer Team to ensure effective outcomes in sales negotiations. This is a 12-month fixed term parental leave cover. We seek a pragmatic, commercially minded individual with a team focus, consultative style, pragmatism and a commitment to continuous improvement. While a legal background is necessary, the role may suit someone transitioning to a commercial position. As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for: Reviewing contracts and interpreting and translating their legal requirements and risks for the business, providing direction on technical legal issues and guidance on matters of legal risk, consistently with the company’s policies and risk appetite; Negotiating terms with customers (small, medium, large enterprises including government and not for profit organisation) and suppliers, ensuring compliance with policies and directives. Maintain clause banks, identifying common negotiation issues and strategies to address them. Providing occasional legal support to the wider business in alignment with the General Counsel. As a Contract Manager, you will be responsible for: Implementing the company’s customer and supplier engagement processes within the Customer Team to support the business to achieve its growth objectives; Collaborating with the Chief Customer Officer to understand commercial needs and drive continuous improvement in the Customer Team's effectiveness. What skills and experience you bring: Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent practical experience. Minimum three years of post-qualification experience in a reputed law firm or in-house legal team. Strong commercial drafting, reviewing, and negotiating skills. Highly capable in identifying and understanding commercial and legal risks. Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure A successful candidate in this role would be pragmatic and commercially minded and willing to work on routine matters.
