The role We’re looking for a Lawyer to join our Construction Disputes practice in Newcastle, working alongside Hamish Geddes. This role offers the opportunity to work on construction disputes matters, providing valuable support to our clients and advancing your career in construction law. You will act for contractors, constructors and construction professionals across the built environment industry, which includes civil, commercial, social and power infrastructure clients. You will be involved in assisting with project documentation and negotiations, project delivery and disputes (SOP, court and tribunal proceedings). As a Lawyer in our Construction Disputes practice, you will be responsible for: Drafting Adjudication applications, responses and statements in complex Security of Payment matters; Assist in the preparation of documents in court proceedings across all levels of state courts Acting for clients in respect of disputes around delays, defects and other common construction problems; and Advising asset owners on structure, risks and associated issues on various residential and commercial developments. The ideal candidate will be proactive, anticipating issues and taking initiative, providing valuable insights and solutions before challenges arise. We’re looking for someone: With a minimum of 2 years’ legal experience, ideally with private practice exposure; Who has litigation experience (ideally within building and construction disputes), and a strong interest in construction litigation. Be a strong communicator, have excellent communication skills to enable you to convey complex legal issues clearly and effectively.
