Hatch, a full-service consultancy, is currently seeking highly motivated a Senior Highways Designer to join the Infrastructure group in Sydney. Our Infrastructure business is experiencing growth due to a pipeline of high profile projects and future workforce planning requirements. Due to this growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior Highways Designer to work within our Sydney Bridges team. The Senior Highways Designer is a highly experienced drafter whom also has the capability undertake design in either 2D or 3D under the guidance of an engineer. The Senior Highways Designer participates in a wide range of projects in the business sectors of: aviation, highways and bridges, rail and transit, ports and marines, tunnels, water and urban solutions. Join our Infrastructure team today As the successful candidate, you will be: Design, production and maintenance of technical and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software as required. Design experience with: Inroads, Openroads, Civil3D or 12D is a requirement Using knowledge and experience where appropriate to amend/progress the design detail provided by the engineers in order to meet project requirements, standards, industry norms, etc. Undertaking self-checking of all drawings against the Quality Management System prior to sending them to the Lead Civil Designer for review. Coordinating directly with engineers throughout the design process. Participating in the Safety In Design (SID) workshop and applies SID principals when completing any design/drafting Ensuring design/drafting deliverables are completed on-time and within the specified project requirements. Using the nominated Document Management System and applies appropriate revisioning of documents. Interfacing with Hatch Global Project Centers, review the work being generated and undertaking any coordination required A champion of inclusion and diversity You bring to the role: Essential A recognized diploma in civil engineering or equivalent from an accredited college/tafe. Extensive project engineering experience in civil design. Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously. Has knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to civil works in the Hatch business sectors. Good planning and organizational skills. Good safety awareness. Organized and methodical. Preferred Knowledge of general construction methodologies. Experience within a multi-disciplinary project environment. Experience in the use of Hatch design and delivery procedures, as well as workflows in the execution of projects. Understands the SID process and has experience in identifying hazards and appropriate mitigations. Experience collaborating with remote drafting teams.
