Temporary full-time role up to 30 Jun 2026 with the possibility for extension or conversion to ongoing Based in Parramatta, flexible working supported Salary relative to experience ranging from $141,175 to $164,405 superannuation and annual leave loading We are looking for a driven and experienced Principal Legal Officer for the Roadmap and Energy Infrastructure team, which is tasked with supporting the renewable energy transition in NSW. The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading legislative reform and advice in the implementation of the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap to deliver widespread and lasting impact for the people of NSW. This is an opportunity for a motivated senior lawyer to join a high-performing team in leading priority law reform for the State at a critical and highly exciting time in NSW’s transition to renewable energy. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong commercial background, robust understanding of NSW Government, and energy market expertise. Strong communication skills, stakeholder management experience, and independence and versatility will be valued. You will support the executive leaders to drive the vision and direction of the legal team by managing and mentoring junior members to deliver on initiatives and leading an inclusive and collegiate culture. About You We would be thrilled to receive applications from passionate lawyers with expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas of law: Energy Environment Commercial Infrastructure Administrative law Legislative reform To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated and experienced legal professional dedicated to delivering high quality legal advice and services to clients. You will have strong communication and stakeholder management experience, with the ability to lead complex and sensitive projects and deliver strategic solutions. Undertaking and working independently on a wide range of tasks with often tight or competing timeframes, our Principal Legal Officers require excellent organisational and prioritisation skills as well as the capability to lead, manage and support junior lawyers. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to prepare and deliver clear, authoritative, practical and solution focussed advice. You will have confidence and ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders and team members.
