Maurice Blackburn, experience you can count on. About the role Our Medical Negligence team is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their practice in Brisbane, on a full-time, permanent basis. Supporting our legal team, this position would suit someone who is seeking a role that will stretch them and further develop their skills. To be successful in this position you will need to have excellent organisation and time management skills, initiative, and the ability to work well within time restrictions and under pressure. You will have strong document preparation and formatting skills and enjoy working in a busy and thriving team that makes a difference to ordinary people. Responsibilities Manage the administration of complex files from open to close Produce external correspondence and prepare complex documents Arrange and manage diaries, appointments and meetings Liaise with key stakeholders such as clients, counsel, opposing parties and the Court Prepare bills for clients Administrative experience in a law firm or in a professional services firm is desirable Excellent organisational and time management skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise and work under pressure to meet deadlines Team player, the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team High attention to detail, especially in preparing documents and correspondence Excellent and tactful communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) Able to use judgement about escalation of issues / information to Supervisor Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including Excel The experience we are looking for Experience in a Legal Assistant or administration / business support position within law, financial services or professional services industry Strong service focus with the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally and with empathy High attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks whilst maintaining quality in a timely manner A proactive can-do attitude Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to different working styles The confidence to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to business needs as required Our shared values represent what we stand for and guide how we act, with Courage; Compassion; Collaboration; Fairness and Tenacity.
