Click on the video below to learn more The Role The Head of Legal plays a pivotal role in navigating the complex superannuation legal landscape. This position provides strategic legal counsel to the Fund, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks and is responsible for the delivery of internal legal services for the Fund. Key focus areas include: Lead the Legal team including 1 direct report and a number of external legal providers. Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with the fund’s overall business / commercial objectives. Develop and oversee processes for the management of legal advice within the Fund including: Ensuring robust processes are in place for the provision of external legal advice including the selection, engagement, delivery and management of costs. Ensure efficient processes are in place to simplify the provision of legal advice. In consultation with key business stakeholders, develop a panel of external law firms with expertise in the key areas of law regularly accessed by the Fund. Develop the Legal team's ability to provide adequate backup and coverage (including overflow capacity management) for the delivery of key legal and regulatory services to the Fund. Oversee litigated matters for the Fund. Oversee and provide guidance on employee relations matters including dispute resolution. Manage industrial relations issues. Lead and support complex commercial negotiations. Oversee and manage insurance claims. You have Qualifications in law and a current practicing certificate. Track record of experience in governance at a senior level. Experience as in-house counsel including supervision of lawyers. Current knowledge of the superannuation industry, regulation and legislative frameworks. Clear evidence of leadership and superior management abilities. High level proven communication skills. Desirable Knowledge of (or prior experience in) the superannuation industry.
