About the role The role provides specialist legal advice, analysis, guidance to General Counsel, Directors, managers and staff across the Office of the Children’s Guardian, as well as builds capabilities in relation to a range of complex and sensitive matters on all legal aspects of the Children’s Guardian’s functions. We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to: Provide legal research, analysis and advice to support General Counsel, managers and staff across the Office of the Children’s Guardian. Undertake special projects including legislative reform and reviews, analysis of relevant court and tribunal decisions and other legal policy analysis relevant to the work of the Office of the Children’s Guardian. Assist in the preparation of drafting instructions to Parliamentary Counsel, Cabinet submissions and parliamentary documentation including House Folder notes and briefings. Draft and/or review documents including agreements/contracts, briefing notes, Guidelines and submissions. Key knowledge and experience Extensive knowledge and experience in administrative or regulatory decision making. Highly developed critical thinking, analytical, written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated strong collaboration and leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and coach a team to achieve key deliverables in a fast-paced working environment. Essential Requirements A law degree or equivalent and admitted as a legal practitioner by the Supreme Court of NSW is essential. Employment at the Office of the Children’s Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.
